Rewards of membership

In addition to helping to keeping the unique 71000 Duke of Gloucester operational as a live working exhibit, Friends and members of the 71000 Trust have opportunities to experience at close quarters the essence of this important part of our railway heritage.

Friends and trust members recently enjoyed footplate rides 'over the Alps' on the scenic Watercress Line during an open weekend at the Mid Hants railway in July 2005.

Special Offer for 2006/7

Any new member who joins Friends of 71000 in 2006 and donates a minimum of £10/month for 12 months will, upon renewal of their subscription, receive a copy of the acclaimed Philip Hawkins limited edition print 'Duke and Two Duchesses'. Existing ordinary members wishing to take advantage of this offer by becoming a Friend of 71000 should contact the membership secretary at the above address.

ELR Open Day for Friends of 71000 and 71000 Trust Members - Saturday 3rd March 2007.

After a delayed start because of a fault with the air pump, the Duke put in a late appearance around mid-day. Several members were able to travel behind 71000 and enjoy a ride on the footplate.
